These fun 3D faces pop up all over the world.
They are the work of Gregos, a French self-taught artist. His graffiti paintings first appeared in Paris in the late 1980s, but in 1997, after 2 years in Athens, Gregos started to experiment with sculpting.
He returned to Paris in 2006, via Boston, and resumed practicing street art in Montmartre, where he brought together the variety of techniques he had developed over the years. The result was a series of 3D replicas of his own face, each one depicting his mood of the day.
To date, there are over 1000 Gregos faces around the world, the majority of which are in his home town of Paris. They vary widely: tiny to large; happy to sad; front-on or profile; stand-alone or part of a larger piece. There are even some disguised as Simpsons characters.
